Bangalore, June 25, 2007 (PTI): Mounting a blistering attack on Congress leaders for hurling “baseless” charges against his government on the proposed Nandagudi SEZ, Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Monday accused them of “misleading” the people over the matter.
“The government will not resort to compulsory or forcible acquisition of lands from farmers for the proposed SEZ,” he said, while dismissing criticism from HK Patil, opposition Congress leader in the Legislative Council and others on the proposed SEZ.
“Even the government land being allotted to the SEZ is being sold at prevailing market rate,” Kumaraswamy told reporters at a press conference. Continuing his attack on Patil and KPCC president M Mallikarjun Kharge for their charges that the government was acquiring farmers lands indiscriminately for the SEZ, he said, “My government need not learn from Congress leaders.”
