New Delhi, October 12, 2007: The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved a National Policy on Rehabilitation and Resettlement, 2007, and amendments to the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, to “strike a balance between the need for land for development activities, and protecting the interests of farmers, landowners, tenants, the landless and those dependent on it.” Continue reading ‘Land for land for farmers’

New policies on rehab, land buy gets nod

New Delhi October 12, 2007: The UPA government today approved a Bill to broaden the definition of “public purpose” for which land can be acquired by the government under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894. Bonanza for landholders in new rehabilitation policy (4)

New Delhi, October 12, 2007: The Union Government on Thursday approved the much-awaited National Policy on Rehabilitation and Resettlement, 2007, giving a bouquet of bonanza to the families affected by land acquisition. The policy, that would replace the existing policy of 2003, was cleared by the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
