Mumbai, November 12, 2007 (PTI): Twelve Special Economic Zones have been cleared for Vidarbha to ensure greater development in the region, which has witnessed several farmer suicides in recent times, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshukh today said. “For the overall development of Vidarbha, 12 SEZs will be set up in the land owned by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in various parts of the region,” Deshmukh told reporters here. Panaji, November 13, 2007: Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat on Tuesday said there will be no more special economic zones (SEZs) in the state. Under constant pressure from anti-SEZ groups including alliance partner Nationalist Congress Party and local Church, Kamat said the government will also review those SEZs which have already been approved.
