Tirupati, November 21, 2007: Decks have been cleared for setting up of Special Economic Zone-Information Technology (ITSEZ) in 147 acres near Tirupati. As per the directive of the State Government, District Collector SS Rawat recently asked the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) to keep the land proposed for ITSEZ ready to hand over it to the IT Department, which in turn will allot it to IT companies.
The finalisation of the master plan by TUDA for the development of infrastructure in the area is a clear indication that the SEZ will come up soon.
According to the norms, construction activity in the master plan area will not be allowed without the prior approval of TUDA. Only in accordance with the master plan, development activities in the area between Tirupati and ITSEZ will be taken up.
According to sources, the TUDA master plan was also approved by the State Government. The district administration directed TUDA to develop infrastructure in the area prior to the visit of IT officials and representatives of IT companies to the SEZ site.
