No fertile land for SEZs: Himachal CM

Shimla, January 9, 2008: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Tuesday said his Government would go ahead with the proposals on SEZs, but added that no fertile land would be acquired for the purpose. He said the state would follow the Gujarat model on SEZs and farmers who were willing to sell off their non-agricultural lands would be allowed to do so.

He added that the wasteland adjoining Punjab border would be utilised for the purpose and the Government would formulate an ambitious plan for providing basic infrastructure in the industrial areas of the state.
