New Delhi, January 14, 2008: The Adani Group’s multi-product SEZ in Mundra could be heading for trouble. The finance ministry, which had raised questions about Mundra SEZ operating from an existing port, has rejected the clean chit given to the project by the Attorney General. The finance ministry’s contention is that the SEZ Act lays down that the zone has to be built on an area vacant and free from all encumbrances, and the Mundra zone did not qualify to be classified as an SEZ. New Delhi< January 15, 2008: Torrent Power, a part of the $1 billion Torrent Group, today invited bids from domestic and global developers for setting up a 400 MW gas-based power plant in Dahej Special Economic Zone. The company invited bids for engineering, procurement and construction of a combined cycle power plant of 350-400 MW capacity at Dahej SEZ in Bharuch, Gujarat. (more…)

Cummins to move India EOUs to SEZs
