Citizens’ Research Collective on SEZ

Mangalore, January 30, 2008: A Technical Committee of the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) would conduct a site inspection at the areas of proposed Mangalore Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on February 2 and 3, stated a press release issued from the State Pollution Control Board office.

The release stated that the Technical Committee of the Expert Committee for Infrastructure Development and Miscellaneous Project of the MoEF was constituted under the Environment Impact Assessment notification. The inspection had been proposed in view of the several representations received from public and NGOs with regard to the Mangalore SEZ project. A public discussion would be organised by the Technical Committee at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on February 2 between 10 am and 4 pm.

Interested public and NGOs could participate in the meeting, the release added.
