New Delhi/ Chandigarh,January 9, 2008: Chandigarh IT-SEZ gets formal approval, Ludhiana engineering SEZ gets in-principle nod. Formal approval has been given to Chandigarh-based Sukhm Infrastructure (P) Ltd’s IT SEZ, spread over 16.86 hectares with a proposed investment of Rs 745 crore. PEs to pump in $50 m in Karle’s Bangalore SEZ

Bangalore, January 7, 2008: Three private equity funds, including JP Morgan and Actis, are in the picture to pump $50 million (Rs 200 crore) into Bangalore-based Karle Group’s upcoming mid-sized Special economic zone project. The Rs 750-crore SEZ, which has all the regulatory approvals in the place, is shaping up on a 28 acre land on the outskirts of Bangalore at Nagawara. New rehab policy for farmers?

Pune January 7, 2008: The state government is planning a new rehabilitation policy for the farmers whose lands are acquired for industrial developments schemes including special economic zones (SEZs). The policy is expected to be declared in February after getting cabinet nod, said Ashok Chavan, state minister for industries and mining, on Saturday at the 25th anniversary of Mitcon, a government-owned consultancy firm.
