New Delhi, January 17, 2008: The Board of Approval for special economic zones will consider the state government’s request to scrap all SEZs in Goa in its meeting next month. The issue of denotifying the three SEZs which have already been notified, however, has to be primarily settled between the Goa government and developers of the SEZs, a senior ministry official said. New Delhi, January 17, 2008: The Adani Group, which has run into trouble with its multi-product SEZ at the Mundra Port in Gujarat, has finally something to cheer about. The group’s proposal for a second SEZ at Dholera in Gujarat, which too was being questioned by the finance ministry for its proximity to the Dholera port, has been given the go-ahead, sources said. New Delhi, January 14, 2008: The Adani Group’s multi-product SEZ in Mundra could be heading for trouble. The finance ministry, which had raised questions about Mundra SEZ operating from an existing port, has rejected the clean chit given to the project by the Attorney General. The finance ministry’s contention is that the SEZ Act lays down that the zone has to be built on an area vacant and free from all encumbrances, and the Mundra zone did not qualify to be classified as an SEZ. New Delhi< January 15, 2008: Torrent Power, a part of the $1 billion Torrent Group, today invited bids from domestic and global developers for setting up a 400 MW gas-based power plant in Dahej Special Economic Zone. The company invited bids for engineering, procurement and construction of a combined cycle power plant of 350-400 MW capacity at Dahej SEZ in Bharuch, Gujarat.
