New Delhi, March 12, 2008: The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday witnessed noisy scenes with MPs, cutting across party lines, targeting the Government on the issue of Special Economic Zones (SEZs). They accused it of allowing corporate and industrial houses to grab land from farmers and ignoring violation of the SEZ Act by developers. Though the Centre ruled out any change in the Act as it was “working well,” it assured the House to look into any issue relating to misuse or abuse of the law. (more…)

New Delhi, March 12, 2008: Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) has acquired about 2584 hectares of land and as per approved Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP), about 1200 hectares is balance for future development such as operational activities, commercial/social facilities, residential facilities for Project Affected Persons (PAPs) etc. (more…)
