Plug revenue leaks from SEZ units, CAG to govt

New Delhi, March 13, 2008: The Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG) has noted with concern that the government had to forego revenue amounting to around Rs 2,000 crore as SEZ units are allowed to treat their domestic sales as exports. (more…)

New Delhi, March 13, 2008 (PTI): The Centre, on Wednesday, said it has no plans to amend the Special Economic Zone Act saying it is working well. Replying to supplementaries to a host of questions on SEZs in Rajya Sabha, Union Commerce & Industry Minister Kamal Nath said special economic zones have become important engines of economic growth.
