High-level panel clears 28 projects

Bangalore, March 18, 2008: The State High Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC) chaired by Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Monday cleared 28 mega industrial proposals with an investment of over Rs 49,000 crore that could generate around 4.19 lakh jobs.

Of the 28 proposals, 11 are special economic zones including eight from the IT and ITES sector, thermal and coal-based power generation stations, integrated steel plants and power generation stations, cement plants, integrated townships and in education.

A multi-product SEZ at Hiriyur in Chitraduraga district with estimated investment proposal of Rs 4,164 crore and generating 37,000 jobs. The SEZ would be set up by a Mumbai-based Limitless Properties.

Some of the major projects include: airport-based multi-product SEZ at Devanahalli (Rs 3,384 crore, 95,970 jobs) to be setup by the BIAL, an IT park in Bangalore East by Orchids Apartments Pvt Ltd (Rs 87.8 crore, 4,500 jobs), integrated township at Anekal, Bangalore rural district by Shivakar Infrastructure (Rs 1,484 cr, 31,720 jobs), IT park by Adarsh Developers in Bangalore East (Rs 113 cr, 4,500 jobs), IT/ITES SEZ by Bagamane Developers at Mysore (Rs 586.67 cr, 36,000 jobs) and an IT/ITES SEZ at Mangalore by Nitish Estates Private Ltd in Mangalore (Rs 433.77 cr, 20,520 jobs).

A release issued by the Governor’s secretariat said clearances for the industries were given in tier two and three cities including Mysore, Mangalore, Hassan, Hiriyur, Gulbarga, Muddebihal, Ganagavati, Hospet, Afzalpur, Yadgir, Kunigal, Koppal, Sandur and Haveri besides investments in Bangalore City and Bangalore Rural districts.

Governor’s advisors K Krishnakumar, P K H Tharakan, Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao and Infrastructure Principal Secretary V P Baligar attended the meeting.
