Andhra Pradesh state government has forcibily acquired about 1000 acres of farm land at Polepally in Mahabubnagar district and is trying to establish a Formulations (Pharma) SEZ in these lands.

Situation tense at Kakinada again

BACKGROUND

In 2005 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y.S Rajashekar Reddy and ONGC on 03-09-2005 to establish an Oil Refinery as an SEZ near Kakinada, the headquarters of East Godavari District for which an area of 9869 acres was to be acquired under the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.
